Madhuri Dixit is set to bring a special dose of Bollywood nostalgia to television as she appears on Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18. A recent promotional segment featuring the veteran actress has already attracted attention after she recreated one of her most memorable classical dance performances.
During the special appearance, Madhuri performed to “Kaahe Chhed Mohe”, the classical number from the 2002 film Devdas. She drew upon the mannerisms of her celebrated character Chandramukhi, using expressive gestures and traditional dance movements while seated on the quiz show's hot seat.
The performance prompted an enthusiastic reaction from Amitabh Bachchan, who was visibly impressed by the unexpected recital. The veteran actor applauded Madhuri's performance and praised her during the segment.
Madhuri Revisits Her Iconic Devdas Character
Madhuri's appearance carries a strong connection to her Bollywood legacy. Her portrayal of Chandramukhi in Devdas remains among the performances most closely associated with her career, particularly because of the film's elaborate classical dance sequences.
Rather than presenting a full-scale stage performance, the KBC segment turned the familiar quiz-show setting into an opportunity for Madhuri to revisit that character through dance. Her expressions and hand movements became the central attraction of the promotional sequence.
The moment also brought together two of Indian television's most recognisable personalities, with Bachchan reacting to a performance from a colleague whose film career has spanned decades.
A Special Appearance During Amitabh Bachchan’s Birthday Celebrations
Madhuri's appearance is part of a special birthday-week episode associated with Amitabh Bachchan. The interaction adds another nostalgic element to the current season of the long-running quiz programme.
The episode is also significant for Madhuri because it comes as she prepares to take on a new television responsibility. She is set to become the host of the Marathi version of the quiz franchise, Kon Honar Crorepati.
Madhuri Dixit Returns to Hosting After 24 Years
The upcoming Marathi quiz show marks Madhuri Dixit's return to television hosting after a gap of 24 years. She will become the first woman to take the host's chair on the Marathi adaptation.
Kon Honar Crorepati first premiered in 2013 and has previously featured hosts including Sachin Khedekar, Nagraj Manjule and Swapnil Joshi.
The new season will see Madhuri interact with contestants, listen to their personal journeys and guide them through the questions that form the core of the programme.
When Will Kon Honar Crorepati Premiere?
Kon Honar Crorepati is scheduled to premiere on October 12 on Sony Marathi, with the programme also available for streaming on Sony LIV.
Meanwhile, Madhuri's appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati gives viewers another opportunity to see the actress revisit one of her most recognisable screen performances—this time in an unexpected setting alongside Amitabh Bachchan.
