Mohanlal Really Drove the Climax Scene in Jailer 2? Action Director Clears Up Body Double Speculation

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s appearance in Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer 2 has become a talking point among fans, with fresh questions emerging over his limited screen time and a car sequence near the film’s climax. The film’s action director, Chethan Ramshi D’Souza, has now addressed speculation that a body double appeared in place of the actor during the scene.

Responding to a fan’s question on Instagram, Chethan confirmed that Mohanlal himself featured in the climax car sequence. His brief response has helped clarify one of the major questions surrounding the actor’s appearance in the film.

The discussion gained momentum after viewers questioned whether some portions featuring Mohanlal had been shortened or removed before the film’s theatrical release.

Action Director Responds to Fans’ Questions

The controversy intensified when a fan commented on Chethan’s social media post, asking whether Mohanlal had personally performed the car scene or whether a stand-in had been used.

The action director replied that it was Mohanlal himself in the scene, dismissing speculation that a body double had replaced the actor for that sequence.

However, Chethan did not address the separate question about why Mohanlal’s introductory portions appeared shorter than some fans had expected. The filmmakers have not provided a detailed explanation for the concerns about his screen time.

The clarification focused specifically on the climax car scene rather than the editing of the actor’s overall role.

Mohanlal’s Stand-In Explains His Limited Involvement

The discussion also followed comments from Jobi Kodakara, who worked as Mohanlal’s stand-in during portions of the film’s production.

Jobi explained that his contribution was limited to a small number of shots involving the actor’s hands and legs, including driving-related visuals. He said his face does not appear in the released film.

His explanation helped distinguish the use of a stand-in for selected shots from claims that another person had replaced Mohanlal throughout the climax sequence.

The presence of a body double during filmmaking is not unusual, as stand-ins may be used for particular shots when scheduling or production requirements make it necessary. In this case, the action director’s clarification specifically identified Mohanlal as the performer in the disputed car scene.

Mohanlal’s Screen Time Remains a Separate Debate

While the clarification has addressed speculation about the car sequence, some fans remain disappointed by Mohanlal’s limited appearance in Jailer 2.

The actor plays Matthew, a stylish smuggler and ally of Rajinikanth’s character, Muthuvel Pandian. Given Mohanlal’s popularity and the anticipation surrounding his appearance, some viewers had expected a more substantial role.

His stylist and costume designer, Jishad Shamsudeen, also expressed disappointment over scenes and looks that reportedly did not make it into the final version. His comments added to the discussion about how the film’s supporting characters were presented on screen.

Nevertheless, questions about deleted scenes and the final edit remain distinct from the claim about who performed the climax car sequence.

Rajinikanth’s Sequel Continues to Draw Attention

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 brings Rajinikanth back as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The film also features an ensemble cast that includes Shiva Rajkumar, Jackie Shroff, SJ Suryah and other prominent performers.

Mohanlal’s cameo was among the appearances that generated considerable anticipation before release. The discussion surrounding his screen time has continued even after the film reached cinemas.

Chethan’s response provides a direct clarification about the climax car scene, although it does not resolve every question about the actor’s role in the final cut.

For now, the key distinction is clear: the action director has confirmed that Mohanlal himself appeared in the disputed sequence, while the reasons behind the editing of his other scenes remain unexplained
